What type of chair is this?
This GCI Outdoor outdoor chair combines the comfort of a rocking chair with the practicality of a sunshade. And yet, this hybrid still manages to be easy to pack up and take almost anywhere.
This chair would be great for those spending outdoor time in areas where there is little shade – such as soccer fields, baseball diamonds, beaches, and parks. But, the shade could also provide protection on rainy days. In fact, this would have been a great chair to have on our last, rainy camping trip. No one likes soggy eggs!
The size and sturdy construction of this chair do mean that it also weighs a bit higher than many other chairs. At 13lbs, this may not be the chair you’ll take backpacking with you – but you’ll wish you had!
Who is it for?
Capacity-wise, this chair is a bit on the low side, accomodating only up to 250lbs. If you’re on the stockier side, this weight limit and the chair’s narrower design might not work best for you.
Size-wise, this canopy camp chair also runs a bit heavier than others, coming in at over 13lbs! When fully opened, this chair measures open size: 40.6 x 30 x 50.8 inches. And when folded, the size is 9.8 x 7 x 40.2 inches. The seat is a generous sling style, giving you 20.1 inches of room to relax.
Weight-wise, the product is a bit on the heavier side – weighing in at over 13lbs. Meaning that while it will travel with you, it’s not the best choice for deep woods backpacking or having granny carry it to the soccer field.
Materials and Construction
The chair frame is made out of highly durable, black powder-coated steel. You’ll also notice the spring action rocking mechanisms attached to the frame that allows this product to rock literally anywhere.
The sunshade is made from durable, thick fabric that is coated in anti-UV ray protection. The seat is also made out of this durable fabric but has two mesh openings to ensure good airflow – keeping you cooler for longer.
